Station 19 - Maya & Carina Season 5 X 10\ How did we go From '' I want another Version Of You'' To '' I Come Second ''
This is my point of view with the way they’re writing Maya & Carina’s storyline lately. Is it the writers completely forgetting what they’re writing and being inconsistent or simply writing drama for the sake of drama? Either way, it’s completely frustrating. For Carina to mention that she feels second to Maya’s job when Maya has actually proved on several occasions she now has someone she loves and may be a priority to her is simply bad writing. I’ve seen several people voice their thoughts about this, some on Maya’s side and a few on Carina’s and honestly I understand both. But ultimately the writing for both of them is horrendous during this situation. For Maya to be all about her job no questions asked, yes, she’s always been career oriented but it’s very Season 1 Maya wish to just believe her job, block everything and everybody else out. That’s been the sweetness of Maya Bishop’s character development over the seasons. She has never been crazy in such how that she suddenly had other priorities and plans, like Carina and their vision to start out a family. And now she does. Which leads me to... why can’t this woman have both? Why can’t she be so career driven that she’ll do anything to urge her captaincy back while also doing everything she will to start out a family with the lady she loves?
Instead of making the drama a contest of which Maya loves more, why can’t the writers make the drama within both of the particular storylines. Why can’t Maya come home after a frustrating day at work being ignored by the chief and cuddle up with her wife and continue discussing baby plans, something she had told Carina she was now beat for. And then if they want to have drama with the baby storyline, whether it be it’s hard for Carina to get pregnant or they struggle to figure out a donor situation, then Maya has work to be where she can just focus on her job and doing her best to get her captaincy back. It shouldn’t all be mixed in , it shouldn’t all be discussed at the foremost inconvenient times to form either Maya or Carina look bad, just do both storylines at the same time where they will both exist at once!
And I get that they need to form it even more dramatic by having Carina voice her frustrations to Jack (or anyone but Maya) but really, can we even have a couple on this show talk through their arguments?
It’s such a lazy disservice that this show does with all their couples. We see it briefly with Marina once in a while but not enough. It’s one thing for these characters to urge advice from their friends/co-workers on the other hand we never actually see the conversation between the couple that's absolutely needed. It’s either rushed, interrupted, or off screen!This has to change.

I'm sick of all this drama pulled out of nowhere, Maya's career stalling for no real reason, Carina assuming what her wife thinks and the lack of communication going on between the two of them. Carina going from tearing up hearing Maya say she wants a small version of her to confessing to Jack (fuck they need to get Jack out of the way, I'm going to hurt someone) that her and starting a family comes second on Maya's list of priorities.
The writers seem to completely ignore what has happened in the previous episodes, they don't even need to talk to each other (the writers) they just need to take 40 minutes to watch the previous episode.
Maya being frustrated about her career is understandable but this whole not listening to her wife is extremely season 1, the event she has had is one among the best in the show and now they are trying to pull her back to this robot who only focuses on her job and everything else goes after.
I'm not saying i would like the 40 minutes of the show to focus only on them, I understand there are more characters, I understand they need to offer all of them stories, it's a show with more than one main character but don't give me this inconsistency and expect me to just stand by and watch them screw up the development that has taken four seasons, it's obvious they're getting to do everything they will to form Sullivan captain again without him having to try to to absolutely nothing to deserve it, but don't treat my baby that way.
Don't come to me now and tell me that Carina the woman who has been trying all this time to get Maya to talk about her feelings and be herself, is now just assuming things due to how Maya has been acting the previous couple of weeks, don't come to inform me that she hasn't noticed that when Maya was still captain she dropped everything to go help her and Andrew, knowing that it was the most important day of her career as captain so far. It's clear to everyone here that Maya would and will do absolutely everything for Carina, it's not possible that Carina herself hasn't noticed it yet. Don't give me something and then take it away, these writers need to pull their heads out of their asses and make things make sense, And don't get me started on Jack and therefore the comment that he could be the sperm donor!!
Everyone saying Maya and Carina need to talk and I agree 100% they should but first the writers of the show need to talk to each other seems like they don’t follow one another storyline most are doing whatever they need and that we are here getting more and more frustrated.
I love Carina so much but where is Maya she works at the Station right? Because I’m not seeing her there, you telling me she went on that call without even kissing her wife ok let’s forget that everyone was back and she was nowhere to be found??!
Carina sweetheart have you seen the way Maya looks at you and you think you come second?! Go talk to your wife please.
