Top Five Wedding Gifts for Lesbian and Gay !
Because gay and lesbian weddings are not legal in many places, a gay or lesbian wedding is often referred to as a commitment ceremony. Regardless of the context in which the gay or lesbian couple exchanges vows, the tastefulness of a gay wedding gift or the tastelessness of a lesbian commitment gift is a topic worthy of a top five list.
Gay and lesbian wedding gifts can be divided into two categories. The first type of present is one that expresses one's homosexuality or lesbianity. The rest are gifts that would be fine for either a straight marriage or a non-gay wedding. In my top five list, I'll include one of each type.
1- Simple and simple gifts are the most popular wedding gifts, whether for a gay couple, a lesbian couple, or a straight bride and groom. A lovely set of towels, for example, is a good wedding gift. A towel set that says his and his, or hers and hers for the lesbian married couple, is an example of a present that makes a sexual orientation statement. A homosexual wedding gift that is merely a broad message of commitment and congrats is an excellent quality set that says nothing.
2- Movies, novels, or music in particular. I've seen wedding gifts consisting of dvd or blu-ray movies. To make a statement, a person could present a gay-oriented selection of books, music, or movies, or they could simply give items that they enjoy. I think either is fine, but a better gay or lesbian wedding gift may be a gift card that the pair can use to buy whatever they want.
3- Wedding gifts that are celebratory are a nice idea. Sky lanterns, cake toppers, and party poppers are examples of these. These are also available in variants that make a bold gay or lesbian wedding statement, such as the groom and groom or a bride and bride as cake topper couples. Unless one gives unique sexual meanings to colors, sky lanterns are gifts that don't really say anything about the lesbian or gay wedding.
4- A wedding gift of a vacation is a nice idea, but it's usually from the parents. I'd like to invite you to my wedding if you're someone who would give a honeymoon trip as a wedding gift. A trip to San Francisco would be a lesbian or homosexual statement, whereas a vacation to Fiji might be a lovely wedding gift for a lesbian or gay couple.
5- The final present I'll mention is just cash and a card. Regardless of whether the couple is lesbian, gay, or straight, the marriage or commitment service is costly, and getting some money back is a tremendous assistance. Make any statement you want on the card, and I'm sure it'll be well-received. The most important thing is to show your support and to contribute financially.
