“Would you're keen on me if I wasn’t a doctor?” Carina asked, cutting Maya off. She was shocked by the way had begun rambling it wasn’t for the pained tone Maya was using as she spoke Carina would’ve been sure the opposite woman was simply messing with her. Carina couldn’t believe what was happening inside Maya’s head “Would you're keen on me if I called Bailey immediately , quit my job and decided to become a full-time chef?”
“Of course” Maya nodded without a moment’s hesitation “I’d love you no matter what”
“And why do you think it would be any different for me? I didn’t fall crazy with a fireplace captain Maya, I fell crazy with a lady who just happened to be a fireplace captain. I fell crazy with you due to the way your eyes sparkle once you laugh, due to the way you hum along to the radio when you’re happy and the way you yell at unrealistic firefighter shows on TV and for therefore many other reasons” Carina replied with a smile, giving Maya’s hand a mild squeeze as if that would reaffirm her words to her wife “ I fell crazy with you, not your job. I love you no matter what”
“I know we made promises once we exchanged rings at the marriage but I’d wish to make another one with the silicone ones” Maya declared, her cheeks flushing pink at all the type things Carina had told her as she stared at the gold band on her left . It appeared to glimmer even within the faintest of lights and while Maya knew she’d need to wear the silicone one when back at work, she truly couldn't imagine herself beginning her gold ring for now.
It was too important to her.
“What k of promise?” Carina asked curiously, letting go of Maya’s hand and quickly unwrapping the silicone rings that she’d ordered online. More than happy to indulge her wife.
“With this ring…” Maya began, holding up the silicone ring and inspecting it quickly before gently slipping it onto Carina’s finger and letting it rest just above her gold band which she’d replace on as soon as she’d finished her shift at the hospital. Carina grinned at the very fact the ring was an ideal fit, she’d been feeling naked without having a band on her finger. She wanted the planet to understand she was married to the foremost amazing woman “I promise to like you regardless of what. Whether you’re a doctor or knowledgeable chef or a lion tamer within the circus, i will be able to love and support you"
"With this ring..." Carina grinned, doing exactly what May did and inspecting the black silicone ring before placing it on her wife's finger "I promise to like you regardless of what.
